About Us

Next Generation Karaoke came about in October 2007. Rob began attending karaoke in the early 90’s as a teenager with his parents, he would go out to as many shows as he could and made lots of friends, at around this time he also purchased his first karaoke setup, a laser disc player and Pioneer laser discs, so he could practise at home. His love for karaoke grew, and in 2007 he decided to pursue his dream job and start hosting karaoke.

We did a couple of shows in Pinjarra and Kwinana, before landing our first venue, The Whitford Tavern in 2009. At this time Stephen joined Rob as part of the hosting team, and we soon commenced in Merriwa, then The Saint in Inaloo, then The Swinging Pig in Rockingham. Rach became part of the hosting team in 2010 and has been part of Next Gen since.

Over the years we appeared at The Wanneroo Tavern, The Woodbridge Hotel, Carnegies, The Blvd Tavern Joondalup, Hotel Northbridge, Langford Tavern, Pipers Inn Currambine and Rockingham, South Street Alehouse, Bar Orient and many more. We also hosted the Bankwest Christmas event at PCEC and a christmas party at His Majestys Theatre.

We have made many friends, enjoyed birthdays, halloweens, christmas parties, weddings, new years and fancy dress events.

We have collected a large library of karaoke tracks, and update our songbooks regularly. We update new tracks from Zoom and Capital Karaoke as they are released, and also purchase special requests for our regular patrons.

Our show rig as of 2025 consists of:

  • 3 x Mackie Thump 1500w Speakers (2 for FOH 1 for stage monitor)
  • 2 x Shure Wireless Microphones
  • Yamaha Mixer
  • 32″ LED Singer Screen

We purchase all of our songs in High Quality to ensure superior sound, and play upbeat music between karaoke songs to add to the atmosphere.

We are registered with MIPI and have permission from karaoke manufacturers to use our songs digitally.

We also have our hireout jukebox, The Generator, which you can see on our hire page, we also host private and corporate functions.

We operate using a fair rotation at our shows, basically singers are put into the queue in the order they arrive, they sing 1 song per round and a duet counts as a song for both performers in that round. We don’t play favourites and wont bump people up in the queue because they want to leave, everyone is there to have a good time and everyone waits their turn to sing.

Some venues allow children to perform early in the evening, but due to licensing laws, they may be required to leave the venue early, if you are at one of our shows and the venue allows children to perform, we will most certainly try to fit them in prior to cut off time.

Overall karaoke is about having fun, we respect our patrons and ask the same in return, come along, sing a song, dance and be merry! We appreciate everyone who comes along to join us whether they are regulars or attending for the first time, you’ll find a warm welcome when you sing with Next Generation Karaoke.
